Karen has probably written more about design than anything else. In the early Noughties, she was features editor on Britain’s then leading architecture magazine, Building Design, where she wrote a comment piece every week, and edited columns by Will Self and Jeanette Winterson. She went on to edit Intra, an interiors title for architects, and since going freelance has written for Wallpaper*, Design Week and Icon, among many other magazines. It wasn’t easy to select five pieces from her extensive archive but these articles for Grand Designs Magazine, Blueprint, Building Design and The Guardian give an indication of her range, and how she can write for both the lay reader and the professional designer.
